Norse Runes are believed to be symbols that sprang from the Well of Urd - The source of FATE - and the Norns used these runes to carry that fate up the trunk and branches of Yggdrasil to the nine worlds amidst its boughs. Vikings believe these runes to be inscriptions of great importance and communication between the metaphysical and mundane worlds. As a method of divination, the runes are cast and the Futharks are read to predict the future.
